Heart of the Matter by Judy Johnson

Given a photo file, students will be able to plot points relating the movement of a triangle to the simultaneous movement of a heart. The students will find a set of parametric equations that can be used to describe the motion of a heart as it related to the movement of the triangle and describe this relationship.

    Lesson Objectives:

  • - Identify essential quantitative relationships in a situation and determine the class or classes of functions that might model the relationships.
  • - Use a variety of symbolic representations, including recursive and parametric equations, for functions and relations.
  • - Approximate and interpret rates of change from graphical and numerical data.
