Workshops : Clemson Pre-Calculus/Calculus Project
Building on their experiences with the Technology Intensive Calculus for Advanced Placement (TICAP) project, the calculus curriculum team has written 14 units that blend technology based calculus investigations into a reform based instructional approach. The TICAP project equipped their leaders with instructional units that integrate technology instruction into the AP Calculus Curriculum. These instructional units and their use of graphing calculators combined to create one of the most attractive reform based calculus curriculums. The Clemson Calculus Project captures much of the spirit and freshness of that approach.
The precalculus sections blend seamlessly into advanced sections that emphasize many of the fresh items present in the calculus reform movement. In particular, integration is treated as an accumulator function, and numerical approaches are omnipresent. "Tried and true" basics are presented in the new technology based world and the "new and fresh" approaches are smoothly blended into very effective instructional materials that can be immediately integrated into the classroom.
