Workshops : Clemson Statistics Project

The Clemson Statistics Project with Supplemental AP Challenge Activities, available beginning inthe summer of 2003, is a technologically rich curricular package designed to supplement high school courses in statistics. Each unit will also feature special challenge problems intended for students taking Advanced Placement Statistics. Further, because statistics is a content area that can be integrated into virtually all secondary mathematics topics and is essential to the understanding of contemporary life, the project will help not only teachers instructing classes in statistics, but any math teacher working with secondary students. Real-world problems that capture students interest will provide the context to bring meaning and enrichment into the classroom. The Casio Algebrafx 2.0 graphing calculator, which will be featured in this project, will provide atool not only to determine statistical measures but to help students understand key statisticalconcepts.
