Tips for recording your video

Arrangement

Ideally, you will want to orient your video in portrait / vertical format with the calculator taking up two-thirds of the video screen. This gives you enough room to display a time keeping device such as a watch, stop-clock, or another phone. Your hand must be visibly working through the problem set. Make sure your video is well-lit. Audio is not necessary for the submission.

No Editing!

Send in your video "AS-IS." Do not overlay any text or graphics onto the video. Do not crop, cut, or alter the speed of the video.

Format and Storage

Please store your video on a filesharing service such as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox or similar services. If you're unable to share your file via cloud services, we can accept files up to 150 MB in size. Your video must be in an acceptable file format in order to be reviewed (mp4 is preferred, or mov, avi, flv, webm, or hevc).

The Casio Education Calculator Speed Run Contest (the "Contest") is a skill-based contest that tests both speed and accuracy solving mathematical challenges in the form of a worksheet of interconnected math problems, utilizing certain of the Casio advanced scientific calculators, as they are defined below. There can only be one (1) grand prize winner of the Casio Education Calculator Speed Run Contest. Two (2) runner-up winners will also receive prizes. Open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and DC aged at least 18 years and that have reached the legal age of majority in their state of residence at the time of entry. Internet access is required to submit entry. Entry requires use of a Casio fx-991CW calculator (the "Casio Advanced Scientific Calculator") to complete the speed run.

Eligibility. This Contest is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and Washington, D.C., who are at least 18 years of age and have reached the legal age of majority in their state of residence at the time of entry. Employees, independent contractors, interns, officers, directors, and agents of Casio America Inc. (the "Sponsor"), their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and suppliers, and the immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each of the aforementioned are not eligible to participate in the Contest. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited.

By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are binding and final on matters relating to the Contest, including, without limitation, interpretation of the Official Rules.

Entry Period. The Contest begins on July 21, 2025, at 12:00 a.m. (ET) and all entries must be received by the Sponsor on or before August 11, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (ET) (the "Entry Period"). Sponsor's computer is the official time keeping device for the Contest.

How to Enter. To enter the Contest, you must fill out the Submission Form located on the Sponsor's website at the Contest Page (casioeducation.com/2025-speedrun-contest/) and follow the instructions to submit your timed video demonstrating your ability to complete the mathematical challenges presented using one (1) of the Casio Advanced Scientific Calculators (as defined in these Official Rules) through the Contest Page during the Entry Period. The Submission Form will require providing your full name, date of birth, state of residence, e-mail address, and phone number. Submissions made or attempted to be made outside of the Entry Period will be void.  Submissions that do not comply with the Submission Guidelines set forth herein will be void. Submissions must be made through the online Submission Form, accessed at:

Upon receipt and verification by Sponsor of your video in accordance with these Official Rules, you will be entered into the Contest. However, any and all entries that are early, late, lost, illegible, garbled, incomplete, damaged, destroyed, forged, manipulated, tampered with, modified, edited, adjusted, inappropriate, lewd, offensive, noncompliant, or otherwise inconsistent with the requirements of these Official Rules may be disqualified from the Contest at Sponsor's sole and absolute discretion. Entries generated by script, macro, or other automated or artificial means and entries by any means which subvert the entry process are void. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned.

Proof of submission does not constitute proof of actual receipt of an entry by Sponsor. Sponsor must be in receipt of the qualifying, valid video file in compliance with these Official Rules in order for the entry to be considered in this Contest.

Limit one (1) entry per person and per email address. Entrant may submit a maximum of three (3) submissions for entry during the Contest Entry Period but only one (1) entry—the latest entry submitted—will be considered. Prior entries by an individual will be deemed voided by a subsequent entry up to the maximum, and submitting more than the allotted maximum of three (3) submissions may disqualify an entrant as noncompliant. A submission may be rejected by Sponsor in Sponsor's sole and absolute discretion if it fails to comply with these Official Rules.

In the event of a dispute as to the identity of any entrant who submits an entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the holder of the e-mail account associated with the submission from which it was sent but only if such person is otherwise eligible. The "account holder" is the person assigned an e-mail address or service by the organization responsible for assigning addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address.  Winner may be required to show proof of being the registered account holder.  If a dispute cannot be resolved to the Sponsor's satisfaction, the entry will be deemed ineligible.

Submission Guidelines. Entries must be in an accepted video format and may not be sped up or altered in any way. Video submitted must show entrant's hands at all times as that person works through solving and completing the mathematical challenges presented. Video must show a time keeping device such as a stopwatch, stopclock, or a phone app. Entrant must use the Casio fx-991CW ClassWiz Advanced Scientific Calculator to qualify. If Sponsor cannot independently verify the calculator being used, that only a single individual is solving the challenges, the validity of the timing of the video, or any other element of the requirements of this Contest, Sponsor may in its sole and absolute discretion disqualify the entry. Submissions made or attempted to be made outside of the Entry Period or that exceed the maximum number of entries permitted will be void.

Summary of Submission Guidelines.

  • Video submitted must be in an accepted file format (e.g. mp4, mov, avi, flv, webm, hevc).

  • Video cannot exceed 150MB in size or it must be hosted on an external filesharing service with a link accessible by the Sponsor.

  • Video must show use of appropriate calculator.

  • The video must clearly show one person actively solving the equations on a physical calculator. This can include the use of hands or assistive devices used by individuals with disabilities, provided the device is not automated or pre-programmed to solve the equations.

  • Video must also include in the frame a stopwatch or other device that shows the passage of time in order for Sponsor to qualify the video entry. Sponsor will, however, independently also assess the time elapsed with Sponsor's independent assessment constituting the final time determination.

Submissions that do not meet these guidelines and all other requirements of the Contest are subject to disqualification at Sponsor's sole and absolute discretion.

Submitted entries must be clear. Do not tamper with the file by adding an electronic timer or watermark on the submitted video file.

Limit one (1) entry per person and per email address. Entrant may submit a maximum of three (3) submissions during the Contest Entry Period but only one (1)—the latest submission—will be considered as the entry.

Sponsor does not permit the infringement of others' rights and any use of materials not original to the entrant is grounds for disqualification from the Contest. Do not include materials, images, graphics, music or trademarks belonging to any third parties. Do not depict or incorporate the names, voices, likeness or personas of any party other than yourself unless you have obtained all rights necessary from such other party (and, their parent/legal guardian, if they are under the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence) to permit you to use same in connection with your submission and grant the rights herein granted to Sponsor. Entries that contain brand names, trademarks or company logos may be disqualified; notwithstanding, Sponsor understands that some clothing or attire may feature a trademark or logo which may be difficult to exclude.

Submissions must not include material that: (a) is sexually explicit, indecent, obscene, violent, hateful, tortuous, defamatory, slanderous or libelous, (b) is derogatory or promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age, (c) invades the privacy or publicity rights of any person, living or deceased, (d) is unlawful, (e) contains viruses, trojan horses or other technologies that could adversely impact the Contest; and/or (f) is disparaging to Sponsor or is inconsistent with the positive images and/or goodwill to which Sponsor wishes to associate (at Sponsor's sole and absolute discretion).

How to Win. The individual who solves the mathematical challenges presented in this Contest accurately, in full compliance with these Official Rules, and in the shortest duration of time as determined by the Sponsor will win the grand prize. Two runners-up with the next best times will also be awarded prizes. Winning entries must meet all requirements of this Contest as set forth in these Official Rules.

Each submission will be reviewed and analyzed by Sponsor and, specifically, by those certain employees of Sponsor designated as the judges (the "Judges") and who are responsible for administering this Contest. The Judges will conduct validity and compliance reviews as well as ascertain and confirm the time taken by each entrant to solve the mathematical challenges presented.

Each entrant's time will be published on a scoreboard on casioeducation.com/2025-speedrun-contest/, along with their first name, last initial, state of residence, time, and attempt number. Placements at the close of the Entry Period may be re-reviewed, and the entries associated re-confirmed by the Judges for compliance.

As determined by the Judges in their sole and absolute discretion, the submission with the fastest time will be selected as the potential Grand Prize winner. The submissions with the second and third fastest times will be selected as the potential Runner Up Prize winners. The second and third fastest times could be the same times, in the event of a tie for the second fastest time.

The potential winners are subject to confirmation that they have met the eligibility requirements and complied with these Official Rules. If multiple submissions qualifying as winners have identical times (in other words, a tie) as determined by the Judges, then multiple prizes will be awarded to those winners depending on the respective entrants' time placements.  If multiple submissions qualifying as the Grand Prize winner have identical times (in other words, a tie) as determined by the Judges, then the Grand Prize will be equally divided and be awarded in equal shares to each such Grand Prize winners.

Winner Notification. The potential winners will be notified by e-mail or phone call (at Sponsor's sole discretion) to the e-mail or phone number provided at time of entry, on or in advance of September 30, 2025. If Sponsor is unable to contact, reach, connect, or otherwise communicate with any potential winner within seven (7) days, the potential winner will be deemed to have forfeited the prize. Except where prohibited by law, each potential winner will be required to execute and return an affidavit or declaration of eligibility, and a liability and publicity release (the "Prize Acceptance Documents") within seven (7) days of date of issuance of a winner notification.  If such documents are not returned within the specified time period in the manner specified, a prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, Sponsor is unable to contact a potential winner or a potential winner is not in compliance with these Official Rules, the prizes will be forfeited and, at Sponsor's discretion, an alternate winner will be selected based on the next best time as determined and confirmed by the Judges. Non-compliance shall result in disqualification and award of the prize to an alternate winner.  If any potential winner is found to be ineligible, or if that individual has not complied with these Official Rules, or declines the prize for any reason prior to award, such potential winner may be disqualified and an alternate potential winner may be selected. The Sponsor is not responsible for and shall not be liable for late, lost, garbled, damaged, intercepted, misdirected, or unsuccessful efforts to notify the potential winner.

Prize. There will be one (1) Grand Prize of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00). There will be two (2) runners up who will each receive one (1) fx-CG100 graphing calculator (each, a $120 value).

The total approximate retail value ("ARV") of the Contest is Ten Thousand Two Hundred Forty Dollars ($10,240.00).

No substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent is permitted except by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Winners are solely responsible for each and all of their respective taxes, expenses, and other costs associated with receipt of a prize. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded. However, in the unlikely event of a tie, whereby Sponsor is unable to determine a time differentiation between entries that are otherwise qualifying for a prize, Sponsor will award all qualifying winners as follows: in the case of a tie for the Grand Prize, the cash prize will be equally split among all those winners with the exact same best time; in the case of the runner up prize, if more than two (2) people post the exact same second best time, additional calculators will be awarded; and if there is not a tie for second best time but there is a tie for third best time, which would still qualify for runner up prizing, Sponsor will award a calculator to each additional qualifying winner as well.

Any and all applicable federal, state, and local taxes and all fees and expenses related to acceptance and use of prize(s), whether or not specifically stated herein, are the responsibility solely of the winners. Prizes cannot be substituted, assigned, transferred, or redeemed for cash; however, Sponsor reserves the right to make equivalent prize substitutions at its sole discretion. Sponsor will not replace any lost or stolen prizes or components of a prize. Winners may be required to provide Sponsor with a valid social security number or tax identification number for tax reporting purposes before their prize will be awarded (as required in winner's applicable jurisdiction of residence).  An IRS Form 1099 may be issued in the name of the winner for the value of the prize(s) received.  Unclaimed prize(s) will be forfeited.

Sponsor will provide winners with instructions on how to receive respective prize. Winner must follow all of Sponsor's instructions and submit all required information and/or paperwork, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, in order to receive prize. All prize details not specified in these Official Rules will be determined in Sponsor's sole and absolute discretion.

Sponsor and its agencies are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, damaged, stolen, misdirected, garbled, or illegible entries; lost, interrupted, or unavailable network, server, or other connections, garbled transmissions or miscommunications, telephone transmission problems; computer or software malfunctions or damage to a user's computer equipment (software or hardware); technical failures; or other errors or malfunctions of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, or otherwise. Proof of sending or submission of entry will not be deemed proof of receipt by Sponsor. Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS CONTEST OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAW, AND, SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO PROSECUTE AND SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds, in its sole discretion, to have attempted to tamper with or undermine the entry process, any website associated with the Contest, and/or the legitimate operation of the Contest; to violate or otherwise fail to comply with the Official Rules; or to act in an unsportsmanlike, inappropriate, or disruptive manner or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, void any suspect entries, modify the Contest or suspend the Contest to address the impairment, and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules, or Sponsor may alternatively determine to end the Contest early and award the prizes in accordance with these Official Rules from among the eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of the impairment. Sponsor's administration of this Contest is final and binding.

The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules or the Prize Acceptance Documents will not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision of the Official Rules or the Prize Acceptance Documents is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, the other provisions will remain in effect and will be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein. Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules will not constitute a waiver of that provision or of the Official Rules generally. Entrants agree to waive any rights to claim ambiguity of these Official Rules. Headings are solely for convenience of reference and will not be deemed to affect in any manner the meaning or intent of the documents or any provision hereof.  In the event there is a discrepancy or inconsistency between disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, privacy policy, or terms of use on a Contest-related website and/or the terms and conditions of the Official Rules, the Official Rules shall prevail, govern, and control.
